The ice-covered surface of Jupiter's moon Europa.
Terrain heightmaps created in Gaea and used to generate heightfields in Houdini.
Scene assembled, textured and rendered in Clarisse iFX, color grading in Photoshop.
For the ice, I created a custom material starting from four different materials from Quixel megascans. Subsurface scattering was heavily used for realism, which required a very high sample count to get a noise-free image.
Materials: Quixel megascans, 8K.
Maps for Jupiter and its moons: Nasa.
Poly count: 543 million.
